I am having the worst artist's block in the history of artist's block. I can't paint, I can't write, I can't create. Everything sucks and nothing works. What is going on? I've tried the book The Artist's Way but it asks too much about your childhood memories and I don't have a lot of those. So that in itself causes me to get blocked. This is literally driving me nuts. I am watching more and more t.v., because I can't create. I have prayed, meditated, journaled and nada, nothing, negative. Help?

9x12 oil on panel $50
This painting is on www.dailypaintworks.com and Leslie Saeta's blog for 30 in 30. It's 9x13 and was so fun to paint. I have done a 180 from my usual nature paintings and turned to still life. I went to Toy Joy here in Austin Texas on Sunday and bought a few fun things, went home and played. This was one result. It is available and ready to be shipped!

What to paint, what to paint...I struggle with this all the bleeping time. Nothing seems to spark my interest once I get it from the camera to the puter. All the pics I take look boring and flat on the screen. It doesn't seem to matter. What to paint, what to paint. AND every idea I seem to come up with has already been done. ACK! The eyes I've painted over the years seem to be as original as I'm ever gonna get. The paintings I've been posting here and on DPW are from my boyfriends eye not mine. I just can't seem to find the pulse.

(tap tap) Hello? Is this thing on? Anyone out there?
I'm painting everyday but not happy with the results. I have never painted this small before so I'm having to learn some new tricks. The two paintings you see below are large and the top one sold. I'm trying to use these paintings as inspirations for my smaller works that I will sell on Daily Paintworks. The larger paintings are done on birch wood that is coated with a semi transparent colored stain so the wood grain shows through. The smaller replicas are done on hard board panels, totally different surface. But I'm learning and soon I'll be able to post them here and on DPW. Wanna share anything? Your blog? Advice? Website? Ways to get people to read this? Please do.
More pics of my larger pieces.

I am really frustrated today-artist's block. I get them quite frequently. I often wonder if it is normal to get them so frequently. ARGH! Anyone else out there experience artist block? Any suggestions? Carol Marine put an excellent art byte about it on her Daily Paintworks website. Check it out if you haven't already. I am on my way there now to re read the wonderful advice the 8 artists offer.

Well I'm still here in Bastrop being a Bastropian for the weekend. There was a road runner on my bfriend's roof that overhangs the back deck this morning trying to catch the humming birds that buzz about there. He/She was obviously trying to catch one for breakfast. We debated what to do. Do we allow the sacrifice of one life for the wellbeing of another or do you allow one to go hungry and save the others? We decided to allow nature to take its course, believing that the road runner would not be able to catch the speedy little boogers. But alas, it did. So the survival of the fittest marches on.
I have completed two paintings and will post them here tomorrow or Monday. They are completely different from my macro shots of the birds bees and butterflies. They are colorful still life shots of a few of my favorite things. Stay tuned.
And please if you are visiting my site, leave a comment if you feel so inclined. I have no idea if I'm reaching anyone or not.

I am gearing up to join daily paintworks AND I'm joining the challenge 30 in 30. Stay tuned for the pics of my work. (sigh) I am so new to all this and I'm not sure I'm doing it right. I don't even know if this is reaching anyone, probably not, at least not yet. I'm in Bastrop this weekend, enjoying the back deck of my boyfriend's house. The hummingbirds are crazy this time of year and in two weeks it will be even more crazy. Such lovely little creatures. Every time I see one I have the urge to hold it's little feathered body in the palm of my hand and softly stroke it. The fragileness of nature and the world in general make me wonder. Maybe I will capture that in my work one day.
